Statement from Phoenix Chinese Week- February, 2022
To all our Phoenix Chinese Week supporters,
Out of an abundance of caution, we will once again not have an in-person festival this year. Unfortunately, we are still living in a pandemic situation with the uncertainty surrounding the highly transmissible omicron variant.
As we usher in the Lunar New Year on February 1st, we hope everyone continues to observe health and safety protocols, and we wish everyone a Healthy and Happy Year of the Tiger.
For the past 30 years, the mission of Phoenix Chinese Week has always been to unite communities, share our culture, and educate younger generations on our unique heritage, through our annual Chinese New Year Festival and cultural outreach programs. We are grateful for the support of our community partners, sponsors, members, volunteers, and people like you. We could not have come this far without you.
The current climate has shed light on the continued need for fostering greater understanding between communities, and elevated the importance of diversity education and cultural awareness. Our organization consists of dedicated volunteers who are simply passionate about sharing their stories and traditions. While there is much work that lies ahead of us, we believe that together, we can learn so much from one another, build friendships and create a richer, brighter, and more inclusive future.
Here are some ways you can join us in our mission:
• Our 2021 virtual showcase of culture and history remains here for all enjoy.
• Support local businesses who have been disproportionately affected by the impacts of COVID-19
• Join our team of volunteers to help us further our mission of promoting cultural awareness and community. There are many volunteer opportunities available.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you in the near future.
