2020 PCW Student Art Contest Winners

 

BACKGROUND

Each year Phoenix Chinese Week sponsors an Art Contest to give students the opportunity to express their knowledge of 5,000 years of Chinese culture through art.

2019 CONTEST THEME

Contestants may choose any aspect of Chinese history or culture as their subject, such as: history, architecture, music, martial arts, cuisine, visual arts, festivals, religion, the zodiac, landscape, people, etc. All submissions must be related to Chinese arts & culture.

ELIGIBILITY

Arizona Kindergarten through 12th grade students.

Grade Level Categories: K-2nd grade, 3-5th grade, 6-8th grade, 9th-12th grade

ACCEPTED SIZE & MEDIA

Artwork must be no smaller than 11”X14”. Accepted Media: pencil, crayons, markers, acrylic paint, oil paint, water color, colored pencils, pastels, digital art, ink or paper cutting.

RULES & REGULATIONS

1) One entry per student.    2) Entries must be original and completed by the participant without assistance.     3) All entries become the property of Phoenix Chinese Week and may be used for displays and in Phoenix Chinese Week publications.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Judged equally on originality, artistic creativity and theme. The judges’ decisions are final. 

ENTRY DEADLINE

Digital entry must be received by email Nov. 30, 2019 at 12am.  No extensions.

ARTWORK SUBMISSION

Artwork should be submitted online. Please email your high resolution (300DPI) art image to phoenixchineseweekart@gmail.com and include all the following information:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Grade
  • Title of the artwork
  • Medium used
  • Cell phone number
  • 2nd Email

PRIZES

Awards will be presented to the 1st-3rd place winners in each category.

AWARDS PRESENTATION

Winners will be notified by email prior to the Awards Ceremony and are strongly encouraged to be present to receive their awards at 12 noon on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the Phoenix Chinese Week Festival at the Margaret T Hance Park East main stage (1202 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, 85004).  Winning (1st~3rd Place) artwork images will be displayed in the Art & Photo Gallery at the Phoenix Chinese Week event, and on the 2020 souvenir book.
