The Phoenix Chinese Week Organization, in cooperation with the City of Phoenix, the Phoenix Sister Cities, Inc., and the Phoenix Sister Cities Taipei and Chengdu Committees, is proud to present PHOENIX CHINESE WEEK 2025, a series of cultural, social, and educational events highlighting the diverse heritage of an ancient culture with 5,000 years of history.

Celebrate the Year of the Snake and experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of the 35th Annual Phoenix Chinese Week Lunar New Year Festival. Enjoy continuous live entertainment, including dragon and lion dances, folk dances, musical performances, tai chi, and martial arts demonstrations. Sample a variety of delicious Asian food from our food trucks and food vendors, chill out at our beer garden, have fun at the Children's Pavilion, shop interesting items from our merchandise vendors, check out our Koi fish and other exhibits, and participate in many hands-on activities. Test your skill using chopsticks at the chopstick challenge, take a selfie in full traditional Chinese costume, play a game of mahjong, learn how to use the abacus, try a Chinese Yo-yo, have your English name translated into Chinese characters, and much more!

OFFICIAL GRAND OPENING CEREMONY FEBRUARY 1ST, 9AM

The Phoenix Chinese Week Organization, along with Phoenix Sister Cities, Inc., the Phoenix Sister Cities Taipei and Chengdu Committees, officials, and dignitaries, will officially kick off the Phoenix Chinese Week 2025 Lunar New Year Festival at the grand opening ceremony featuring traditional lion dance, dragon dance, performances, and entertainment.

FESTIVAL INCLUDES...

  • CHILDREN'S PAVILION

    The Children's Pavilion provides free children's cultural projects. Demonstrations of Chinese calligraphy with translating English names into Chinese, paper folding, folk art, paper cutting and other arts and crafts. Children of all ages can enjoy the cultural and fun hands-on activities.

  • FOOD PAVILION

    A variety of delicious and authentic Chinese and Asian cuisine is available throughout the festival in addition to food truck favorites.

  • TEA GARDEN - TEA CEREMONY DEMONSTRATION

    Learn about Chinese tea culture through tea ceremony demonstration, protocol of preparing and serving tea, equipment displays and the history of the tea tradition.

  • BEER GARDEN

    Enjoy the festivities and food while relaxing with an iced cold beer. Sponsored by Hensley Beverage Company.

  • SPECIAL KOI FISH EXHIBIT

    The Phoenix Valley of the Sun Koi Club will conduct its annual Koi Exhibit during the Phoenix Chinese Week Festival. See hundreds of award-winning Koi fish as well as a Koi Equipment Trade Show. The Valley of the Sun Koi Club will be providing Koi education and history of the Koi.

  • TAIPEI DRAGON BOAT DISPLAY

    A traditional dragon boat for races at the mid-summer Duan Wu Festival will be displayed. Dragon boat racing, a Chinese tradition dating back over 2,500 years ago, was to honor the poet and patriot Qu Yuan. This dragon boat is a gift from the City of Taipei, Taiwan to the city of Phoenix in honor of the historic friendship between the people of both cities developed through a Sister City relationship that spans over 40 years.

  • CHINESE CULTURE AND HISTORY BOOTH

    See 5,000 years of Chinese culture on display. Learn how to use the abacus- the “Chinese Computer”- to solve mathematical problems and discover other inventions, including the printing block, kites, compasses and more. Traditional Chinese attire, pictures, puppets, tangrams, and other Chinese inventions will be exhibited. Cooking demonstrations at various times.

  • CHINESE COSTUME PHOTO BOOTH

    Saturday and Sunday - 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Transform into an Imperial prince or princess! Take the ultimate selfie, friends or family portrait in full traditional Chinese costume with props. Four-legged friends are welcome.

  • MAHJONG BOOTH

    Mahjong is fun and enormously popular, a classic Chinese game of strategy, skill, and summation. See the art of mahjong playing as you watch demonstrations and have an opportunity to try your hand at this game - a traditional past-time of young and old especially at Chinese New Year.

  • CHOPSTICK CHALLENGE

    Chopsticks are useful for eating and cooking, but you can have fun with them too! Learn how to hold chopsticks, then try your skill to win a prize.
